Solana carbon-credit exchange for Nigerian small businesses and carbon project developers

About the project

Carbon markets are hard for small businesses and local project developers to access. Carxit is a decentralised marketplace on the Solana blockchain where Nigerian SME owners can buy carbon credits directly from local carbon project developers.

What we built

  • Solana program architecture — on-chain logic for listing and trading carbon credits.
  • Carbon credits as tokens — credits issued and transferred using Solana’s SPL Token program.
  • Secure escrow — Program-Derived Addresses (PDAs) hold funds so SOL-for-credit swaps settle safely for both sides.
  • Web app — a React.js front end connected to users’ crypto wallets through Web3.js.
  • Decentralised verification — project verification data stored on IPFS so it can’t be quietly changed.
