About the device
This is a parking enforcement device used in the United States. Instead of clamping a wheel, an enforcement officer attaches it to the vehicle’s windshield, where it locks on with suction and blocks the driver’s view. The vehicle cannot be driven safely until the parking violation is resolved and the device is released with an unlock code.
What we did
Our client owns and operates these devices and needed their PCB and firmware files brought up to date. Our work covers:
- Hardware reverse engineering — analysing the existing control board, built around a Microchip ATSAM microcontroller.
- PCB documentation — recreating up-to-date design files for the board.
- Firmware development — updating and maintaining the device firmware (ongoing).
